M-mode Echocardigraphy

Aortic valve

In M-mode at the aortic valve level, record the parts that ultrasound beam passes through the right ventricular outflow tract, the cusp of the aortic valve and left atrium. When recording the image, confirm that the beam does not enter obliquely using both the long and short axis views. This view is suitable for the observation of systolic semi-closure of the aortic valve seen in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Mitral valve

In M-mode at the mitral valve level, record the parts that ultrasound beam passes through the tip of the cusp of the mitral valve. This view is suitable for observation of the systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve (SAM) seen in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Left ventricle

In M-mode at the left atrium level, record near the chordae tendineae level of the left ventricle while taking care not to make an oblique cut. This view is suitable for observation of paradoxical movement of the interventricular septum.
